There’s nothing complicated about good pub food. It’s about fresh ingredients, generous portions and dishes you’ll actually want to come back for. At the Red Lion, our kitchen serves up a menu full of proper pub favourites alongside seasonal dishes, with a focus on good quality ingredients and local produce wherever we can.

Our menu changes with the seasons, but you can expect comforting pub classics, fresh fish, locally sourced meat, vegetarian options and plenty of hearty dishes to enjoy after a day exploring the Lake District. 

And, of course, there’s our Sunday roast.

 Served every Sunday, our traditional roast is a favourite with both locals and visitors.

 Something to drink? 

A good meal deserves a good drink. Enjoy a pint from the bar, a glass of wine, a cocktail or a soft drink alongside your food. And if you’ve spent the day walking the fells, there’s nothing quite like settling down with a drink and putting your feet up.

Sunday menu: 12pm – 7pm 

Traditional Sunday roast served all day, unless sold out.

Planning to eat with us? We recommend booking a table, particularly at weekends and during busy periods.

 Monday – Saturday: Online reservations are for tables in the restaurant area. Tables in the bar are available on a first come, first served basis. 

Sunday: Tables in the bar area can also be booked if the reservation is made before 12pm on the day.
